At BIETSCH Orthodontics, we know how important a good night's sleep can be to a patient's health. When a patient struggles to stay asleep because of snoring or sleep apnea disruptions, a good night's sleep can become a difficult task. Sleep apnea is caused by constriction of the airway while sleeping and snoring can also accompany this problem. Not all snorers have sleep apnea, however snoring can also be remedied with the same type treatment: oral appliance therapy.
If you suspect that you have a problem with snoring or think you may have sleep apnea (a serious health condition that can deteriorate your health), Dr. Tom Bietsch, can offer you a private consultation for sleep apnea and snoring treatment. Everyone in your household may be suffering from your loud, rattling snores and we want to help you with options including a custom-made oral appliance (like a night guard) that is worn in the mouth to reposition the jaw while you sleep and is the least invasive way to treat sleep apnea. Call us today in Far North Dallas, TX to schedule your appointment to discuss your treatment options with Dr. Bietsch.

"Me and my boys met Dr. Bietsch and his lovely wife Bianca, at Celina Days in Celina, Tx this summer. Curious about the notion of my boys needing braces or not, we came in for a free consultation. After dicovering both of my boys needed braces, I was a bit concerned, because we don't have dental insurance. Right away Dr. Bietsch, along with Bianca, discussed a plan affordable, for both of my boys complete corrections! The monthly payment plan is very agreeable with me, and it works nicely with my budget. It is conveniently debited each month for ease of payment. We drive 2 hours to see Dr. Bietsch every 6 weeks for adjustments, as it is well worth it. The money I saved alone covers the cost of the trips! I have teenagers, and those of you who do, can agree it is hard to please them. Dr. Bietsch and his well trained staff answers their questions with ease and certainty. They enjoy their time here, and never leave wondering about any concerns they have had. After one adjustment visit, upon returning home, my 16 year old found one of the brackets were not adhearing correctly to his tooth. Being in a panic, because it was Friday and after 5 o'clock, I called Dr. Bietsch. He asked how far I was from the office and if it would be convenient for me to return to the office. I agreed to return, and when I pulled up, he had already picked up his baby boy. I felt terrible about calling him after hours, but his concern for my son was genuine, and never wavering that of his own. He assesed the situation, and found my son's tooth, had uneven crevices. He explained he could smooth the area down allowing the glue to adhear better. He hasn't had that problem since.Dr. Bietsch and his wonderful staff make coming to the Orthodontist fun and exciting every time. They treat us like old friends, though we are just visiting for a few hours. I highly recommend Bietsch Orthodontist to anyone who wants a great experience from the very first visit!"- D.H. / Google / Jan 08, 2018
"No doubt, the best customer experience in town. Staff is always friendly and Dr. Bietsch is a true professional. Our experience with Bietsch Orthodontics has been perfect! One kid's braces down, 2 more to go, and no question where we'll be going to take care of those."- N.A. / Facebook / Dec 13, 2017
About the Treatment
With the proper oral appliance for sleep apnea, our patients can prevent or not add to other health problems, including fatigue, loud snoring, heart conditions, high blood pressure, obesity, and weight gain. Oral appliance therapy (a night guard) is the least aggressive treatment for sleep apnea, but some patients may need to use a C-PAP machine and humidifier with a sleep mask to ward off oxygen deprivation.
What to Expect
After a diagnosis of sleep apnea from your primary care physician, general dentist, or another orthodontist, your care may consist of a sleep study and other diagnostic testing before a treatment plan can be made. We want to better understand your specific needs.
Our night guards (oral appliance therapy) will be made from impressions of your mouth for a custom-fit therapeutic appliance. With this information, the night guard is made of high-quality materials. Once the night guard is ready at our office, you will have a fitting appointment to make sure that it fits, is comfortable, and does not need adjustments. Once at home, it is really important to use your night guard on a consistent basis to help prevent the symptoms of sleep apnea, stop snoring, and limit the amount of fatigue you feel after having disrupted sleep.
Keeping your mouth guard clean is very easy. We suggest that you when you brush your teeth at night and in the morning, you also clean your night guard with your toothbrush and toothpaste, rinse, dry, and then store in your night guard container. You will also need to take the night guard with you to your appointments so that it can be checked for deformities and wear. If your night guard is not in great condition, it will not provide you with effective treatment.
